GAAM is Games Art And Music. GAAM’s current goal is the GAAM Show, a Games Art And Music Charity Show that will raise money for the Child’s Play Charity, and help spread awareness and acceptance of gaming’s impact on our culture, the warmth they give our childhoods, and the creative spark it gives our adulthood. 

Gaming is the meeting of art and technology, and this show recognizes and appreciates that. The Games Art And Music Charity Show takes place December 14, 2012, at The Museum at 4160 Boulevard Center Dr, Jacksonville, FL. It officially starts at 6pm, and officially ends at 11pm. 

Local artists, Edmund Dansart, Logan Zawacki, Derrick Nevado, and Ryan Paul Thompson have collaborated over the past year to create a local event that appreciates and celebrates the video game culture, and bring attention to the SouthEast. This is a one night only event that has the support of many in the video game industry, including award winning game industry and hollywood composer Penka Kouneva , EA Games, Game designer and author Chris Solarski, Square Enix (well known for Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, and Dragon Quest), Valve, Team Ninja, and others.

 The event will feature several art exhibitions, include a charity art auction where 100% of the proceeds will go to Child’s Play, a juried art show for other artists to showcase their work, a real world Super Mario Experiential Exhibit by Jessica Tan and Holli Nygren, famous cosplayer Candy Keane, DJ Nes, martial arts demonstrations by Nevado Karate Arts, and more.

 If everything is a success, hopefully we can turn this into a yearly event and continue to spread video games, art, and music while helping good causes! 

This is the beginning of a whole new set of projects next year...Stay tuned! We hope to see you there! -ed

Eb5k News and Notes...

So things have been busy lately... I have been getting commission work and requests(some from overseas which is kinda neat). Those are cool, my clients are amazing, the work is fun and I need them financially, but there are a couple personal projects I really want to get going... My big problem: I need to manage my time better and focus. These projects need to become reality and the only thing stopping me is me... It's time to dig deep and get this show on the road. The comic is going to be my number 1 priority besides the commissions. This has been swirling in my head for a while and I need to sit and write out the first issue. Now that I have some writer friends that have offered to help with the script, there are no excuses. I want to get a full issue done for the 2012 convention season. If I can put it all together, who knows? At worst I will have my own comic book published ( self published, but published nonetheless) and that's still pretty damn cool. :)

 In other news, I am adding another chapter to the video game based 8-Bit Evil series. My next art show will be Friday, October 7th at 5 Points Coffee and Spice. New paintings and prints of my favorite 8-bit villians and heroes. My friends and fantastic artists Nicole Middleton, Nick Dunkenstein, and Jenn Page will be displaying as well. It should be a fun show and the work will be on display for the month of October.

 Oh and I did this robot for a possible shirt, sticker and new business card... Think it turned out ok. :)

3rd Annual Drawing for Life!

It's time to prepare for the 3rd Annual Drawing for Life. DFL is a 12 hour drawing marathon with all the money raised and art sold going towards The American Cancer Sociey. This is Logan Zawacki's brainchild and has grown exponentially over the last couple of years. What started with two artists, then six artists, has now grown to 14 artists! I'm not gonna lie, I am pretty intimidated by this group and the face this will be now open to the public. I know the majority of the artists and I look forward to spending the day with them(my birthday, no less!). I am nervous and exited for this event. I believe in this cause and am honored to be part of Drawing for Life for the second year in a row. I'll do my best to hold up my end of the art!
