Corporate Whores at the Landshark 1/17/09!

Photobucket

The first show of 2009! This should be a fun show, it was a hell of a time booking it. Bands canceled, flaked out, and our drummer broke his leg last week! Luckily, we got a replacement for the night. Come out and see us! Who knows when or where we'll show up next!

eb5k's year in review...

2008 was a pretty good year. I met some really cool artists that I look forward to working with in the future. Brian Gray, SquidDust, Toycrusher, Shea at Flux, Yvonne, to name a few. Thanks for the motivation and your commitment to the local art scene.

Musically, I had a blast playing with The Corporate Whores. This is the funnest band I have ever been in. We had a handful of shows this year and its always a party. We recorded a full length CD and will be working on new material in the new year. I also played with Mike Fout and the Barons. It has been great watching this project evolve over this last year. This band started out as an acoustic act only to have transformed into a blues/honkey-tonk rock band.

Thanks to the folks at Comics and Classics for letting me try my hand at organizing a handful of art shows. Kim, Percy and Rob are great folks to work with. The opportunity will always be appreciated. We were hoping to do more shows, but unfortunately they were one of the many victims of our economic crisis.

Thanks to all my friends who have encouraged and inspired me to pursue art and music over the last couple of years. I was in a funk for long time and now its good to be out doing shows, drawing, painting, and meeting like-minded creative people. I think I made some baby steps this last year, and I hope to seize more opportunities in '09.

Georgia on my mind...the sequel

"Red dirt hills, totem pole pills, and hundred dollar bills!"

Back to Georgia for a another hometown show. The guys(except for me) are from a small city called Cedar town(located a little north of Atlanta). This should be a great turnout with plenty of friends and family in the crowd. I don't really know what else is going on besides the show and a day at Six Flags, but its good to get away now and then. This I know for sure its gonna be a weekend of roller coasters, music, home cookin', moonshine, pills, and a little R&R in the Georgia mountains...Sweet!

River City Soul Company...

The debut show of The River City Soul Company. Here's the skinny:
" We are a promotions and production company geared towards musicians, artists and venues who benefit from affordable, professional help with design, promotion, production and event coordination. We also do custom video and effects work. Our site is currently under developement so check back in to see what's new! Thanks for checking us out! Stop by Shanty Town Pub on Friday June 13th for our Big Kickoff event. We would love to meet you."
I had a blast doing this flyer. I always wanted to do a playbill like the old boxing posters. This show will have something for everyone music and art-wise. Hip-hop to soul to hard rock. It should be a blast.

Back home from the Georgia gig....

Back home from one of the funnest gigs I ever had! I have to admit, I was not sure what to expect. Everyone was cool and hospitable, the weather was great, and we packed the place out. The show itself was a blast! We performed very well, especially with no real monitors for the guitars. Clay's band was a blast to see live. It was a real homecoming for the other guys in the band. 60-100 friends and family came out and partied with The Corporate Whores and Clay Broome. Heres just a few of the pics:

Proof we had to change out band name!

Georgia on my mind...

Gearing up for the weekend in Rome...Georgia, that is. The Corporate Whores are going to their (myself excluded) hometown to play Schroeder's Deli on May 24th. Rome is a small town with around 36,000 people (according to their website).

It should be a strange trip indeed. First of all, we had to change the name of the band to "The Corporate HORSE". Secondly, we are going to have to edit the lyrics. There are several references to drinking, drug use, and what can be interpreted as aggressive sexual acts. Third, we are playing very early for a two band bill. On the bright side, we do get an hour set. Luckily we have enough material. It will definitely be odd for me being in an authentic small backwoods town. We are even staying at someones cabin for the duration. I have a camera and plan to use it and report on my experience, or document my final days. Watching movies like "Deliverance","Wrong Turn" and "Cabin Fever" aren't helping my state of mind.

Its almost as scary as the layout of this poster...Come to Rome...theres a building with a watercolor photoshop filter...some creepy toothless kids in a car...You thing they would have used some nice nature photography, mountains, trees,or something. Oh well...Wish me luck!

The Week of DOOM!

Gearing up for probably my busiest art/music weeks ever...I have a gig Friday night May 30th, Vestal show the 31st, Artwalk June 4th, Corporate Whores gig at 9th and Main Friday June 6th ,and the Corporate invasion show Saturday June 7th... Plus I have to deal with that whole "job" thing...Once I get through this craziness, there is some more cool "Top Secret" projects a brewin'!

Corporate Whores in Georgia!

The boys take the show on the road! Rome, Georgia will host a rockin' homecoming for Clay Broome and the guys in the band(except for me). The poster was inspired by an image I saw of Abe Lincoln fighting an ape...How awesome is that? The bigfoot is a caricature of Clay Broome himself. It should be a crazy weekend in the middle of the woods. Another funny note is that we will be billed as the Corporate HORSE... You gotta love small town politics... I hope it doesn't end up like the band in Hard Rock Zombies. If it does, I hope we can film a sweet montage like this.

New Poster!

This poster was done for musician Jimmy Solari and Chicago Pizza Bakery. Jimmy hosts an all request, one man acoustic show Sunday nights. There was a lot of text to work with, but I am happy with it. When I do these posters, I usually think how to incorporate a robot with the imagery. Pretty easy and fun solution: a robot jukebox with a guitar! Jimmy plays an Ovation, so I figured it would be a nice personal touch.

Open mic night...

This was a fun poster to do...

Original music open mic? Dick's Wings Canteen at Tinseltown hosts an open mic that focuses on original acts rather than cover bands. The PA and back line is provided. You just have to bring your guitar, bass, or drumsticks. Meet other musicians. Practice in front of a live crowd. Its an interesting idea that hopefully will catch on.

Ed and Bo's Awesome Art show 3...

......The black shadows of the past bred this half-man,half-demon,creating a new and terrible juggernaut of destruction !

I'm not sure where I got this tag-line from, but its from a real movie. Really exited about this show. We are going to have several local tattoo artists showing paintings and drawings. What started out as acoustic has now become a full fledge rock show. This should be out best show yet.
