River City Soul Company...

The debut show of The River City Soul Company. Here's the skinny:
" We are a promotions and production company geared towards musicians, artists and venues who benefit from affordable, professional help with design, promotion, production and event coordination. We also do custom video and effects work. Our site is currently under developement so check back in to see what's new! Thanks for checking us out! Stop by Shanty Town Pub on Friday June 13th for our Big Kickoff event. We would love to meet you."
I had a blast doing this flyer. I always wanted to do a playbill like the old boxing posters. This show will have something for everyone music and art-wise. Hip-hop to soul to hard rock. It should be a blast.

Back home from the Georgia gig....
Back home from one of the funnest gigs I ever had! I have to admit, I was not sure what to expect. Everyone was cool and hospitable, the weather was great, and we packed the place out. The show itself was a blast! We performed very well, especially with no real monitors for the guitars. Clay's band was a blast to see live. It was a real homecoming for the other guys in the band. 60-100 friends and family came out and partied with The Corporate Whores and Clay Broome. Heres just a few of the pics:

Georgia on my mind...

Gearing up for the weekend in Rome...Georgia, that is. The Corporate Whores are going to their (myself excluded) hometown to play Schroeder's Deli on May 24th. Rome is a small town with around 36,000 people (according to their website).
It should be a strange trip indeed. First of all, we had to change the name of the band to "The Corporate HORSE". Secondly, we are going to have to edit the lyrics. There are several references to drinking, drug use, and what can be interpreted as aggressive sexual acts. Third, we are playing very early for a two band bill. On the bright side, we do get an hour set. Luckily we have enough material. It will definitely be odd for me being in an authentic small backwoods town. We are even staying at someones cabin for the duration. I have a camera and plan to use it and report on my experience, or document my final days. Watching movies like "Deliverance","Wrong Turn" and "Cabin Fever" aren't helping my state of mind.
Its almost as scary as the layout of this poster...Come to Rome...theres a building with a watercolor photoshop filter...some creepy toothless kids in a car...You thing they would have used some nice nature photography, mountains, trees,or something. Oh well...Wish me luck!

Open mic night...

This was a fun poster to do...
Original music open mic? Dick's Wings Canteen at Tinseltown hosts an open mic that focuses on original acts rather than cover bands. The PA and back line is provided. You just have to bring your guitar, bass, or drumsticks. Meet other musicians. Practice in front of a live crowd. Its an interesting idea that hopefully will catch on.
