Today's daily sketch is Rancid from Time Killers (Arcade, Genesis). Time Killers was a super violent tournament fighter game that tried cashing in amid the Mortal Kombat controversy. Back then, Mortal Kombat upset lots of parents and politicians with nothing better to do with their time. Time Killers and pseudo sequel Bloodstorm tried to capitalize on the hoopla with their brand of ultra-violent fighting games. While it did get some attention and several machines pulled from arcades, the franchise quietly faded away and the company made Golden Tee. The rest is history...

Not to quible too much, but both Time Killers and Mortal Kombat were being developed at the same time to capitalize on the success of Street Fighter II. They were both released about the same time. Nice art though.
