Back from Bear and Bird Gallery /Tate's Comics...

Home from one of the coolest places ever... Bird and Bear Gallery/ Tate's Comics! First off, any comic fan will get a giant nerd boner when walking into this place. If you are ever in the West Palm/Ft. Lauderdale area you MUST see this place to believe it! Sas and Colin Christian have work in the store. Colin's work is actually part of the store! Crazy! They have a killer selection of graphic novels, lowbrow art books, star wars stuff(vintage and new), statues, props, new comics, weird japanese snacks, manga, DVDs, GI Joe, Thundercats, apparel etc. they pretty much covered all the bases. If you are into gaming, they have a satellite store a couple shops down. All kinds of tiny figures, paints, gaming books, multiple sided dice...Nerd heaven I'm tellin' you! They won an Eisner award for God's sake! How cool is that?
The Bear and Bird is a fantastic gallery/ boutique that's located in a loft above the comic store. The show looked great! The lighting was good and the the pieces were hung very well. The turnout was great and I even sold a couple pieces! Its nice meeting the people who buys one of your paintings. Met some really cool folks. Met Juxtapoz regular Skot Olsen and didn't know it till now. I was in awe going up and down the stairs splitting my time up between the gallery and the comic store. It was totally worth the drive to see this place!

To see all the pieces of the show individually, check out the Bear and Bird's Flickr

click here to see my blurry pics of the show. I really need to learn how to use a camera...

Small Stuff 3@Bear and Bird Gallery show... SUNDAY!

Via Bear and Bird:

A salon style “cash and carry” exhibition featuring affordably priced smaller artwork by local, national and international artists! Artwork makes an amazing and totally unique gift for anyone!

I'll be hittin' the road this weekend to catch this Sunday brunch opening! Pics of the show will be up next week and I am going to try to get an interview with gallery founder Amanda Magnetta-Ottati. Super stoked to this killer gallery AND comic store in person! Check out the websites:

Shyloh 6 page preview...

Pages shown are still in progress... I am extending the usual 7 story chapter to 10 pages. Trying some different things with the visuals. Putting more black for contrast and trying some different pacing and structure to hopefully tell a better story. This particular arc leads to the origin chapter. Its fun having the freedom to experiment with this medium and seeing it published. The Chalkline guys are awesome and I think we are building up something pretty cool. Next year it gonna be a great year for us. I can't wait to hit the convention circuit!
