The Paradigm Shifter in progress...
Explanation:
From Wiki: "In the later part of the 1990's, 'paradigm shift' emerged as a buzzword, popularized as marketing speak and appearing more frequently in print and publication... It is referred to in several articles and books as abused and overused to the point of becoming meaningless."

Back home from the Georgia gig....
Back home from one of the funnest gigs I ever had! I have to admit, I was not sure what to expect. Everyone was cool and hospitable, the weather was great, and we packed the place out. The show itself was a blast! We performed very well, especially with no real monitors for the guitars. Clay's band was a blast to see live. It was a real homecoming for the other guys in the band. 60-100 friends and family came out and partied with The Corporate Whores and Clay Broome. Heres just a few of the pics:

Work in progress...
Painting in progress. Still working out the colors, but the bottom part is starting to show some depth. I have lots of work to do!
Georgia on my mind...

Gearing up for the weekend in Rome...Georgia, that is. The Corporate Whores are going to their (myself excluded) hometown to play Schroeder's Deli on May 24th. Rome is a small town with around 36,000 people (according to their website).
It should be a strange trip indeed. First of all, we had to change the name of the band to "The Corporate HORSE". Secondly, we are going to have to edit the lyrics. There are several references to drinking, drug use, and what can be interpreted as aggressive sexual acts. Third, we are playing very early for a two band bill. On the bright side, we do get an hour set. Luckily we have enough material. It will definitely be odd for me being in an authentic small backwoods town. We are even staying at someones cabin for the duration. I have a camera and plan to use it and report on my experience, or document my final days. Watching movies like "Deliverance","Wrong Turn" and "Cabin Fever" aren't helping my state of mind.
Its almost as scary as the layout of this poster...Come to Rome...theres a building with a watercolor photoshop filter...some creepy toothless kids in a car...You thing they would have used some nice nature photography, mountains, trees,or something. Oh well...Wish me luck!

Corporate Invasion!

Art show in a comic store... This appeals to me on so many levels. The fine folks at Comics and Classics will be hosting Bo and I's first two man show: Corporate Invasion! Bo has done these businessman aliens and creatures before. I figured, thats a good theme for an art show. Using our tried and true formula of Bo=monsters and Ed=robots, we decided to go ahead and plan it. I passed the idea to Kim at C+C and she let us have June. Whats cool is that our work will be on display the whole month! The opening reception will be on Saturday June 7th from 7PM-9PM. There will be more details to come.
Be sure to check out our friends at C+C: COMICS!

5.7.08 Artwalk Recap...

My first artwalk went awesomely great! First off, I sold a painting. "Spaceman Red" was a canvas I was going to gesso over and do something new. Instead, I touched it up a little earlier this afternoon and brought it to the gallery. Thanks to Doug for picking it up tonight.
I also met some really cool artists as well. I met writer extraordinaire Madeleine Peck. She writes for various publications around town and has the really cool 'Art is'nt Rocket Science' blog. I finally met local artist Squiddust. He is a really cool guy and we plan to do some great things down the road. I ran into Chris Nail, a former professor of mine at FCCJ. Old classmates and co-workers also showed up. Weird...
So far being part of the Art Center has been a rewarding experience. All the artists were really supportive of my art and when I sold a piece. Thanks to Brian Gray for bringing beer and hanging out all night. We have some really cool ideas in the works. More to come...

ARTWALK!

Exited for my first (of hopefully many) Downtown Artwalk. The gallery requires new pieces each month, that means I really have to be focused on NEW art. It should be a fun night of drinking and music. Who knows? Maybe I'll sell a piece or two...

Corporate Whores in Georgia!

The boys take the show on the road! Rome, Georgia will host a rockin' homecoming for Clay Broome and the guys in the band(except for me). The poster was inspired by an image I saw of Abe Lincoln fighting an ape...How awesome is that? The bigfoot is a caricature of Clay Broome himself. It should be a crazy weekend in the middle of the woods. Another funny note is that we will be billed as the Corporate HORSE... You gotta love small town politics... I hope it doesn't end up like the band in Hard Rock Zombies. If it does, I hope we can film a sweet montage like this.
New Poster!

This poster was done for musician Jimmy Solari and Chicago Pizza Bakery. Jimmy hosts an all request, one man acoustic show Sunday nights. There was a lot of text to work with, but I am happy with it. When I do these posters, I usually think how to incorporate a robot with the imagery. Pretty easy and fun solution: a robot jukebox with a guitar! Jimmy plays an Ovation, so I figured it would be a nice personal touch.
